For more than 120 years, Cottage Hospital has been a vital part of life in the Upper Connecticut Valley. Founded on the belief that quality healthcare should be available close to home, Cottage Hospital was established to serve a rural community that otherwise faced long journeys for even the most basic medical care.
From its earliest days, the hospital has been more than just a place for treatment—it has been a place of trust. Generations of families have relied on Cottage Hospital through life’s most important moments, from welcoming new life to receiving critical care when it matters most.
As a critical access hospital serving more than 40 communities across northern New Hampshire and eastern Vermont, our role has never been more important. In a region where distance can be a barrier to care, Cottage Hospital ensures that patients don’t have to travel far to receive high-quality, compassionate treatment. We are here when minutes matter, when comfort is needed, and when our community needs us most.

In 1903, Cottage Hospital opened its doors inside the historic Cobleigh Tavern—bringing essential care to a rural community close to home.

In 1960, a new hospital was constructed to meet growing needs—made possible through local support and a shared commitment to accessible care.

Today, Cottage Hospital continues to provide high-quality, local care to more than 40 communities across the region.
Over the past year, we’ve taken important steps forward by investing in our facility, including the renovation of our Medical Surgical patient rooms. These updates were designed with one goal in mind: to improve comfort, enhance recovery, and create a more healing-centered environment for every patient who walks through our doors.
Now, we are turning our focus to the next critical phase: The Modernization of Our Operating Room Suite.
This project will modernize, expand, and enhance our surgical capabilities—allowing us to provide more advanced procedures locally, reduce wait times, and improve outcomes for the patients we serve. It is a vital investment not only in our facility, but in the long-term health and sustainability of our hospital.
Because staying here for another 120 years doesn’t happen by chance.
